India Trade Promotion Organisation(ITPO) , the premier trade promotion enterprise of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India is committed to showcase excellence achieved by the country in diverse fields especially trade and commerce. Its mission is to promote, facilitate, encourage and coordinate various activities and programmes to enhance India’s share of exports. ITPO provides a wide spectrum of services to trade and industry and acts as a catalyst for growth of India's trade and commerce.
The company is registered under section 25 of the Company Act, 1956 (now section 8 of the Companies Act 2013). It was formed subsequently on January 1, 1992 with the merger of the former Trade Development Authority (TDA) with the Trade Fair Authority of India (TFAI). Significantly, grown with every business event in stature and dimension, Bharat Mandapam, headquarter of the ITPO which is considered as a symbol of the “Modern Fair Culture” in South-Asia region. ITPO manages India's world class exhibition complex which is constantly upgraded to keep it in a high standard of readiness.
The organization is poised to complete its ambitious plan by August 2022 of redevelopment of Bharat Mandapam, evolving a state-of-the-art International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC). Fulfilling the aspirations of the global MICE fraternity, it will cater G2G, G2B & B2B activities and promises to attract participants and business delegates from all across the world with its sheer magnificence, business conduciveness, architectural excellence and being a majestic landmark destination to be experienced in its entire splendor.
The comprehensive revamp plan of Bharat Mandapam, IECC project was conceptualized by the ITPO as per the direction of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in December 2015, The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved it in January 2017 for implementation in a mission mode. The project has a total built-up area of 4.2 million sq. ft, comprising an iconic, world-class convention centre that can accommodate 7,000 people in a single format, six modern exhibition halls with an exhibition area of 1.5 lakh sqm and plenty of underground parking facilities and good infrastructure connectivity to encourage use of public transportation, but also allow roads to decongest fast. Bharat Mandapam is spread over 123 acres of prime land in the heart of India's capital, New Delhi.
